Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I visit your practice?
The Bear Branch Family and Cosmetic Dentistry team encourages patients to maintain twice a year dental checkups and cleanings in accordance with the recommendations of the American Dental Association. These preventive visits allow patients to achieve and maintain the optimal level of oral health.
Can I bring my kids?
Absolutely. We treat patients of all ages, and we welcome parents of young children to bring their kids to regular appointments with them. This allows children to create positive, pain free associations with dental care from a young age.
What is periodontal therapy?
Periodontal therapies or periodontics are a collection of treatments for patients who suffer from mild (gingivitis) and advanced (periodontitis) gum disease. More frequent or more thorough cleanings are the most commonly recommended treatments, but we also offer laser therapy, antibiotics, and other effective solutions.
Should I get a dental implant supported crown or a fixed bridge?
This decision is an entirely personal one. Implants are often the preferred replacement method because they restore the entire tooth from the roots up and do not effect surrounding healthy teeth. A fixed bridge only replaces the visible portion of missing teeth, and relies on the placement of dental crowns over healthy teeth for support. Both options are semi-permanent (lasting 10 or more years with proper care), and look, feel, and function like natural teeth. Schedule a tooth replacement consultation to find out more today.
Are Lumineers just a brand name for porcelain veneers?
Lumineers are similar to porcelain veneers in that they conceal damaged smiles quickly and effectively. However, they differ in that Lumineers require little or no dental preparation prior to placement. This means patients keep more natural dental structure, and Lunineer treatments are usually reversible if patients dislike the look or feel. Schedule a cosmetic dentistry consultation today to find out if Lumineers, porcelain veneers, or any other cosmetic treatment can effectively transform your smile.
What is VELscope used for?
VELscope is a unique technology developed to improve a dentist’s ability to detect oral cancer in its earliest stages. According to the Oral Cancer Foundation, the only way to reduce the number of oral cancer related deaths in the US (about 1 per hour), is to diagnose and treat the disease in earlier stages. VELscope allows our team to do just that.
Can I finance my care at your practice?
We work with patients to develop payment and financing plans that meet their budget and maximize the benefits of their insurance investments. Contact us to ask our team about payment and financing options any time.
